Richard I. “Poo” Daniels, 80, of Glasford, passed away at 12:51 pm Sunday October 23, 2016 at Pekin Hospital. He was born April 20, 1936 in Quincy, Illinois to Omer and Jeanett (Hudson) Daniels. He married Beverly J. Meyer April 30, 1955 in Quincy. She preceded him in death January 31, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his sister Marla and his son-in-law, Tom Dunn.
Surviving are his children: Mike (Charlotte) Daniels of Pekin, Ted (Diane) Daniels of North Pekin, Patti Dunn of Marquette Heights, Rob Daniels of Glasford, Judy (Mark) Defendi of South Beloit, Joe (Michelle) Daniels of North Pekin, Amy (Troy) Livengood of Kentucky, and Becky (Mike) Baker of Washington; twenty grandchildren; thirty three great grandchildren; two sisters: Mary Larson of Texas, and Susan Tresch of Quincy; two brothers: David (Chris) Daniels and Brett Daniels of Quincy; two sisters- in- law: Prudy (Tom) McKinney and Linda Meyer of Quincy.
Richard worked as a maintenance-welder at Caterpillar Mapleton Plant for 31 years, retiring in 1995. He was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman, and enjoyed wood working. He was of the Lutheran faith.
Funeral services will be at 6:00 pm Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin. Pastor Wayne Yeager will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to services. Cremation will be accorded and private burial will take place at a later date at Lancaster Cemetery in Glasford. Memorial contributions may be made to T.A.P.S. in Pekin.
