Born April 21, 1949 in Alexandria, Minnesota to Woodrow and Vivian (Peterson) Mathiason, she married Paul Scholl, they later divorced. She later married Glenn Lurz on April 11, 1997 in Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Mark Scholl of East Peoria; two stepdaughters, Jessica (Michael) Brown of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Nicole Rodgers of Pekin; one stepson, Thomas (Nicci) Rodgers of Pekin; eight grandchildren, Devin (Lexi) McClannahan of Pekin, Larissa (Kevin) Thompson of West Peoria, Aaron (Kylie) McCabe, Ashleigh McCabe and Ashton McCabe, all of Texas; three great grandchildren, Scarlett Thompson, Andrew Rogers and Wyatt McCabe; one sister, Nancy (Kenneth) Butts of Eerie, Colorado and one brother, David (Helen Roe) Mathiason of Grand Junction, Colorado; one nephew, Joe (Crystal) Duhachek of Boulder, Colorado; one niece, Jackie White Boulder, Colorado; four great nieces, Shawna White, Ashely White, Haley White and Madelyn Duhachek, all of Boulder, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one stepdaughter, Genevieve Lurz and one grandson, Samuel Rodgers.
Peggy worked as a teacher’s aide at Hobby Horse in Pekin.
She loved gardening, camping and fishing for bluegill and Crappie in Victoria or Northern Oaks. As soon as she got to the camping spot she would grab her fishing pole and a bucket of worms and sit on the dock for hours. She had a great sense of humor and was the best cook. She had the gift of being able to whip up anything in a moment’s notice.
Peggy was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pekin.
Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. No services are planned.
