Born August 3, 1944 in Rockford to Gail Albert and Lerlene Phoebe (Lines) Pearson, he married Patricia Ann Hankins on June 11, 1967 in Collinsville.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years; two sons, P. Allen Pearson, II of Elgin and David M. (Jada) Pearson of Beaverton, Oregon; one daughter, Amanda G. (Nathan) Kluender of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Charlotte, Ellen, Noah, Phoebe and Trey Pearson; one brother, Gary A. (Sandi) Pearson of Rockford and one sister, Janice Lindquist of Ft. Myers, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Paul worked in the English Dept. at Pekin Community High School for 32 years before retiring in 2000. He had also taught English for one year in Rockford prior to moving to Pekin.
He enjoyed reading, making stained glass projects, walking and gardening and raising cacti.
Paul was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. He was an active member of various committees that included, the education committee and memorial committee. He was also was a member of the Yam Class; he volunteered at Grace Café and was active in the Men’s Fellowship and the food pantry and had also served as the church council secretary.
His graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin. Pastor Eric Swanson will officiate.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
