He was born December 6, 1953 in Peoria to Paul and Carol Jean (Cooper) Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Joseph Harris and two siblings, Tina Harris and Brian Harris.
Surviving are three sons, Robert (April) Harris and Danny Harris, both of Pekin and Paul A. Harris of Topeka; three grandchildren, Lilyanna, Samuel and Isabella and four siblings, Sheila (Terry) Yarbough of San Antonio, Texas, Richie (Betty) Harris of North Pekin, Sherry Hill of Toluca and Terry (Steve) Knobeloch of East Peoria.
Hairy was a self-employed mechanic and also spent the last two and half years working for Keokuk Grain Inspection Services. He had formerly worked at Caterpillar, Inc. in Mossville.
An avid Harley rider and memorabilia collector, Hairy was an amazing artist that enjoyed fishing and playing pool in area leagues. He also loved his Chihuahua dog, Mia.
Hairy will best be remembered for his big and caring heart. He was willing to help anyone in need and was willing to give his shirt of his back. Hairy never met a stranger and never said no to anyone that asked.
A gathering celebrating Hairy’s life will held at a later date. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Private family only inurnment will be at Browning Cemetery in Browning, Illinois.
