PEKIN ~ Mary Teresa "Sis" Crider, 93, of 2220 State Street, passed away at 2:25 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2011 at Timbercreek Rehab & Health Care in Pekin.
She was born May 21, 1918 in Pekin, the daughter of Edith (Andrae) Olt. She married Hugh Henry in 1948. He died in 1957. She later married Daniel R. Crider. He passed away on June 30, 1975 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her mother; her step-father, Marion Edwards and two brothers, Raymond Olt and Roland Edwards.
Surviving are one daughter, Edith I. (Rev. Jimmy) Taylor of Pekin; two granddaughters, Wendy (Kevin) McCready of Green Valley and Sandra Taylor of New Brighton, MN; six great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Chauncey) Hersemann, Alan Vaughn, both of Pekin, Kyle (Baeleigh) McCready, Tyler McCready, both of Elmwood, Noah Nelson and Madeleine Nelson, both of New Brighton and two great-great-grandchildren, Isabella Hersemann and Dirk McCready.
Sis worked as a nanny for several different families in the Pekin area. She enjoyed her family and loved children. She was a member of South Pekin Community Fellowship Church.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Jimmy Taylor and Rev. Dowice Ashley will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
