Born December 8, 1928 in Peoria to Carl and Juanita (Eckels) Mauer, he married Ramona “Monie” Olds on November 27, 1948 in Peoria. She died January 27, 1998 in Lake Placid, FL. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Surviving are two daughters, Sue (Dennis) Antonini of Pekin and Cindy (Jim) Gardner of Lake Placid, FL; one son, Mike (Jody) Mauer of Pekin; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one sister, Trudy Closen of Pekin.
Marvin had served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He had worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 35 years, retiring in 1985.
Marvin had served as Police Commissioner for Creve Coeur in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
He had been a member of the Pekin Moose Family Center #916, American Legion Post, #25 and the Elks Lodge, both of Lake Placid, FL. He was also a member and past Commander of the East Peoria VFW Post #2078.
Marvin was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and an avid golfer with seven hole in ones to his credit. He had also loved camping at Kentuckiana Kampground in Hopedale.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
