Born January 20, 1936 in Peoria to Harry and Lorene (McAfee) Sarnes, she married Francis A. Ford on May 18, 1953 in Peoria.
Surviving are four children, Wende K. Shutts, Alan D. (Melinda) Ford, Steven K. (Rhonda) Ford, all of Pekin, and Elaine A. (Neal) Savage of Springfield; three grandchildren, Christopher Ford, Alexander (Beth) Ford and Cody Ford and one great-grandson, Kellynn Ford.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Andrew Edward “Eddie” Ford on September 28, 2005.
Marilyn retired from Mr. K’s Supermarket in Pekin after 27 years of service. She also had previously worked as a bus driver for Hoyle School Transportation in Pekin.
She loved her cats more than life itself and enjoyed crocheting. She was a regular at the Busy Corner for years and sang with Pekin Civic Chorus in earlier years.
Marilyn formerly attended First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
Her memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 5:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
