Born May 21, 1929 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to Harley and Francis Lou Visa (Clark) Long, she married Rev. Richard Davis on December 21, 1948 in Corinth, Mississippi. He died October 31, 1986 in West Plaines, Missouri. She later married Earl Hamann on February 14, 1992. He died October 29, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Leo Long, Burl Long, Grover Long and Charles “Bud” Long.
Surviving are one daughter, Carolyn (Phillip) Young of Canton; two sons, Larry (Alta) Davis of Orlando, Florida and Dennis Davis of Pekin; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Brock and Helen York, both of Lawrenceburg Tennessee and four step-children, Diane Waller, John Hamann, David Hamann and Marcia Warren.
Margaret worked in dietary at Pekin Hospital and as a hostess at Ernie’s in Pekin.
In her free-time she volunteered at the nursing home ministry, Meals on Wheels and the Miller Center and was a member of their dartball team. She loved flowers, sewing and participated in the Senior Olympics.
Margaret was a member of the First Church of God in Pekin.
Her funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Kim Bacon will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
