Born February 19, 1933 in Springfield to William and Hazel (Mirus) Ryan, she married Donald Swoik on January 6, 1952 in Springfield. He died August 23, 1992 in Pekin. She later married Patrick Shaughnessy in 1993. He died June 5, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kevin Swoik; two grandchildren, Jared Swoik and Bethany Patton; two sisters and two brothers.
Surviving are two daughters, Debbie (Dave) Smith of Pekin and Diane (Tracy) Noll of Kokomo, Indiana; three sons, Doug (Vicki) Swoik, Craig (Shirley) Swoik and Terry Swoik, all of Pekin; 14 grandchildren, Ryan, Adam, Tyler and Carson Smith, Kellie Pittman, Derek and Brent Noll, Jason and Julie Swoik, Dara Johnson, Chad and Jayme Walker and Lauren and Jack Swoik and 15 great-grandchildren.
Madonna had worked as a monitor tech at Pekin Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 1993.
A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Madonna enjoyed playing cards at the Miller Center, traveling and walking her dog, Sally.
Madonna was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, where she attended daily Mass.
Her funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will be the celebrant. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday morning at the church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.
