Born January 18, 1937 in Glasford to Charles Richard and Caroline Ida (Hellman) Jefford, she first married Russell Marvin Dearing, Sr. and together they had five children. She later married William R. Wiseman on December 18, 1976 in Peoria. He died on December 27, 2000 in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Wendy McKean; her twin sister, Irene Tarpley Lowder and three brothers, Billy Jefford, Rudolph Jefford and Chuck Jefford.
Surviving are four daughters, Kimla Sue Dearing of Petersburg, Cheryl Lynn (Sam) Compardo of Springfield, Venita Kay (Michael) Good of Peoria and Laura Lillian Wilson of Springfield; one son, Russell M. Dearing of Carlinville; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and one brother, Henry Lee “Hank” Jefford of Champaign.
Lucy proudly served in the United States Army with the Women’s Army Corps and was honorably discharged on April 2, 1956.
She was a machinist for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria and Mossville from 1973 to 1986.
Lucy was quite an artist and loved painting. She also enjoyed fishing and traveling.
She was a member of Pekin First Church of the Nazarene.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor W. Lloyd Brock will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
