PEKIN ~ Lucy N. Tennell, 89 of Pekin passed away at 4:15 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012 at her home.
Born November 13, 1922 in Fulton County to Otis and Carrie (Estes) Whitehead, she married Joseph R. Tennell on September 27, 1941 in Palmyra, MO. He survives.
Also surviving one son, Vincent (Sandra) Tennell of Pekin; one daughter, Jody (Steve) Nichols of Pekin; seven grandchildren, Candice Swift of Canton, Valerie (Rod) Wolf of Pekin, Amanda Tennell of Galesburg, Joseph (Rosemary) Abraham of Peoria, Jeff Abraham of Pekin, Scott (Susan) Nichols of Pekin, Angela (Jerrod) Dunbar of Pekin; thirteen great grandchildren and one sister, Diantha (Billy) Skender of Canton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandchild, Tracey; one brother and two sisters.
Lucy was a member of First Christian Church.
She was a homemaker and had worked as a licensed beautician out of her home.
An avid Chicago Cubs fan, she took great pride in her home and loved caring for her children and grandchildren. Lucy was very devoted to and all about her family.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2012 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin where visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mike Roberts will officiate. Burial will be in Woodrow Cemetery in rural Pekin.
