Born September 7, 1932 in Washington to John Wayne and Rosemary (Klassert) Sisler, he married Priscilla Mae Hoover on July 11, 1954 in Bartonville.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years; two daughters, Theresa (Dennis) Myers of Green Valley and Lisa Ann (Sonny) Merritt of Pekin; three sons, Louis Wayne Sisler, Jr. of Pekin, Clarence Andrew (Katrina) Sisler of Weatherford, Oklahoma and John Bruce Sisler of Pekin; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Tinaya, Bryan, Ashlyn, Jared, Jessica and Kyle; nine great-grandchildren; five brothers, Dorsey Sisler of Elizabethtown, Charles (Linda) Sisler of North Pekin, Mike Sisler of Marquette Heights, Marvin Dively of Pekin and Ron (Tina) Sisler of North Pekin and four sisters, Mona Piro of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Pat (Bill) Beaty of Morton, Marcia (Glen) Rhoades of Marquette Heights and Tina Jolly of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Carmelia Jean; one grandson, Jacob Adam Myers; two brothers, Donald and Steven Sisler and one sister, Betty LaMaster.
Louis worked at Caterpillar, Inc. as a core setter in Mapleton from 1951 until his retirement in 1982. He was also a member of the U.A.W Local 974 in East Peoria.
A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Louis enjoyed fishing, picking blackberries and hunting morel mushrooms. He was also a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Guidelines regarding social distancing and wearing of masks will be followed. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
