GLASFORD ~ Lola Mae Miller, 83 of Glasford, formerly of Champaign and Mexico, MO, passed away and entered the presence of the Lord at 10:55 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Born June 6, 1930 in rural Ewing, MO to Virgil C. and Elsie (Decker) Woodworth, she married her sweetheart John W. Miller on August 8, 1953 in Ewing, MO. and they shared 60 of the best years anyone could imagine. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Ruth Miller-Tennis of Glasford; one son, Andy (Tina) Miller of Champaign; seven grandchildren, Ian, Kaitlin, Logan and Jeremy Tennis and Emily, John, and Grace Miller; one brother, Charles Woodworth of Canton, MO; three sisters, Gerry (Don) Dehner of Hannibal, MO, Mary Thomas of Petersburg, and Norma (Fred) Taylor of Bull Shoals, AR.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert Woodworth.
Lola received her Master's Degree in education from the University of Missouri. She worked for the Missouri Public Schools as a 1st grade teacher, then as a principal at Hawthorne Elementary School in Mexico, MO., retiring in 1984.
Most of Lola's adult life was spent in Mexico, MO; where she poured her talents and resources into the community, First Baptist Church and friends. She was also a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Champaign.
How can we sum up a lifetime of love, learning, teaching, traveling, sewing and song? Read what she would have you know: that Lola's first love was to her Lord. A dedicated, active Christian, she lived out her beliefs. She would also have you know that a better life can be found today, and eternity with Him, if you trust in Christ. May God truly bless you as you continue on your path, where you will find Him waiting.
Her funeral will be at noon, Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Glasford Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Pastor Paul Cook will officiate. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 in Ewing Memorial Cemetery in Ewing, MO. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
