My thoughts and sympathy to all of Mrs. Miller's family.  I was a first grade student of hers at McMillan School in Mexico in 1957.  She was so patient and kind with all of her students.  She must have been a great teacher because she influenced me to be a teacher and librarian.  She came to our high school graduation at Mexico High School in 1969 and asked to see if I still had the "widow's peak" in my hair which was more visible when I was a little girl.  Then while I was working as a librarian at MU, I ran in to her in a stairwell in the building now known at Townsend Hall, formerly the Lab School.  I was not surprised to learn she was teaching some upper level classes there.  She's one of my most respected teachers.    

So sorry for your loss!  Please know we are thinking about you and praying for you!

Dear John and family,

We have such good memories of our visits with you and Lola.  Marilyn remembers the joy of sharing their experiences in the field of education.  We both started teaching first grade and loved the little ones.

I am sorry to hear about the passing of your mother, she was a very special lady who I learned a lot of valuable life lessons from.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time.  

Mrs Miller, thank you for your significant impact on my young life. I came to Hawthorne Elementary in 1972. Your influence was forever secured in an impressionable 4th grader, when you could have applied discipline, but opted for grace. Your authority as Principal was surpassed by your advocacy for people. A promoter of learning, a believer in children, a supporter of the little lambs who fed in your pasture. Thank you. In 25 years of ministry, several as a senior pastor, coach, and mentor of young people, I've been guided by the example of a pillar from my past, a lady leader.  Thank you for teaching me that everybody deserves a chance, maybe even a second or third or more. Thank you for always believing in me. 
Your legacy lives on.

Thank you, Mrs. Miller. I started McMillan Elementary School in September 1958. You were my first grade teacher and you set me on the path to being a good reader, a good student and a young man who loved learning and school. It stuck, because I became a teacher and a Principal, like you, and am now a high school counselor. In my 33rd year as an educator, I still remember your classroom, every detail of it. When I was 6, I thought you were probably oh... about 50 or 70. or??  Ha!  But you were a young first or second year teacher and the Best!
For another 25+ years you touched young lives. I only hope I do the same with your early guidance leading and lighting my way.  Yours was a life well lived!  A teacher's impact never ends till the last person touched by the last person touched by the last person you touched has passed. Your influence will live on. Thank you!
