Larry Louis Hackney

Born January 5, 1952 in Pekin to Fred E. and Lucille Nadine (Cundiff) Hackney, he married Kimberly K. Haley on December 29, 1995 at Groveland. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Chad (Rachel) Hackney of San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Jamie (Josh) Lane of Peoria; two stepsons, Duane Kerrn of Pekin and Rob Colson of Spring Lake; one stepdaughter, Alicia (Josh) Pineiro of Orlando, Florida; eight grandchildren, Justin (Megan) Colson, Marisa Colson, Jayde French, Jordan French, Isabel Hackney, Joseph French, Benjamin Pineiro and Mason Pineiro; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred J. (Pam) Hackney of Pekin and Jeff (Debbie) Hackney of Taylorville and three sisters, Sandra (Tom) Ingles, Belinda (Roger) Copeland of Orange City, Florida and Debra (Wayne) Weaver of Pekin. He also leaves his best buddy, Doc.

His parents preceded him in death.

Larry had proudly served in the Illinois Army National Guard for five years.

He retired from Mitsubishi Motors after 20 years of service in December of 2008.

He also did auto and boat upholstery for more than 35 years, owning and operating Larry’s Upholstery.

He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandkids.

Larry was a retired member of United Auto Workers Local 2488 in Bloomington. He also was a former member of Pekin Moose Family Center 916 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1869 in Pekin.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Kurt Copeland, his nephew, will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
