Born January 31, 1946 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Delbert and Jeanette (Smith) Burris, he married Bobbie Lou Stark on July 27, 1968 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Greg (Tonya) Burris of Pekin and Robert (Dana) Burris of Chicago; three grandchildren, Alison Burris, Bennett Burris and Blake Burris; his twin brother, Gary Burris of Terre Haute; one half-brother, Corey Matney of Terre Haute and one half-sister, Tina Silvers of Terre Haute.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother.
He was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Larry worked for Central Illinois Light Company 31 years as a Control Room Operator at Edwards Station, retiring in 1999. He then worked at OSF St. Francis for 3 years as a custodian and last for Bradley University for 10 years.
He was a member of Manito Lodge 476, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons and was a Past Master of Pekin Lodge 29. He also was a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria.
He enjoyed collecting H & O Trains.
Larry was a member of Bridgeway Community Church in Marquette Heights.
His graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Pastor Curt Evans will officiate. No visitation is planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
