EAST PEORIA ~ Kenneth D. Potter, 65, of East Peoria IL, passed away peacefully at his home on April 7, 2023 after a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer, which he fought with great courage, strength, and grace.
Kenny is survived by his wife Diana, with whom he shared many adventures, daughters Alicia Potter, Shelby and husband Matt Martin, sister Linda and husband Tom Jackson, a niece and her family, several nephews and their families, including 2 young Goddaughters, and brother-in-law Rich Hackett.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Betty Potter, grandson Alex Campen, brother-in-law Larry Hackett, and mother-in-law Janice Hackett.
Kenny was born September 1, 1957, and was raised in Peoria, graduating from Limestone High School in 1975. He retired from Keystone/Liberty Steel and Wire with 26 years of service.
Kenny was an avid NASCAR fan, visiting several tracks, including his favorite, Talladega. He spent many hours playing pool, and was an excellent shot. His love of country music took him quite often to Nashville for concerts and honky tonkin’. He enjoyed the outdoors and nature, loved his dogs, cooking on his smoker, and weenie roasts. Kenny loved to travel, but his favorite place to be was always his own backyard.
There will be no services at this time, with a private burial at a later date. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
