Kay Lynne Haffner

Born August 31, 1956 in Pekin to John E. and Virginia A. (Frasco) Monge, she married Ray Haffner on December 28, 2007. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Lyn Apa Roth of Pekin and Amy (Scott) Perry of Metamora; two step-sons, Michael (Renee) Haffner of Mapleton and Franklin (Deanna) Haffner of Pekin; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Haffner and Katie Haffner, both of Mapleton and Luke Haffner and Drake Haffner, both of Canton; three siblings, Dick (Mary Ann) Monge of Peoria, Ronald (Cindy) Monge of Pekin and Karen Cornu (Craig) Jahnke of Las Cruces, New Mexico; one sister-in-law, Darlene (Gene) Hoffman of White Heath; two brothers-in-law, Frank Haffner of Galesburg and Gerald (Sharon) Haffner of Canton.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Kay worked as a Juvenile Probation Officer for Tazewell County before retiring.

She was fun loving and quirky. She enjoyed playing jokes, singing, dancing and making people smile. It was important to Kay to create experiences and memories, and she did so by being a fantastic wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, and friend. She was a magnetic individual, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether it was traveling around the United States with her husband in their RV or having a trivia game night. She also enjoyed swimming, painting, and gardening. She was a great golfer, boasting multiple holes-in-one, course records, and a city championship during her career. Kay created a life filled with joy and love that will remain in the hearts of her loved ones.

There will be a gathering celebrating Kay’s life from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023 at the Pekin Park Pavilion in Mineral Springs Park in Pekin.

Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
