Born October 6, 1946 in Peoria to William D. and Wilma B. (Hale) Root, she married Raymond F. Hall on October 8, 1966 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Deborah (Joe) Peterson of Bentonville, Arkansas; one son, Gregory (Celeeste) Hall of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Hunter Hall of Rockford, Abigail “Abbey” Griffin, Elizabeth “Ellie” Griffin, both of Bentonville and Zeke Peterson of Rolla, Missouri and two brothers-in-law, Jack (Pam) Hall of Pekin and Allan Richard of Streator. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant daughter, Elizabeth Hall.
A graduate of Yates City High School, Karen attended Western Illinois University.
She retired from Dynamic Controls in East Peoria, where she was an accountant. She previously worked for Chris Hoerr in East Peoria and for Dicaro Enterprises in North Pekin.
Karen dearly loved her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Arizona. She loved sewing and quilting, liked fishing and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Karen was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin. Pastor Simeon D. Raddatz will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, and also from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
