Born December 11, 1966 in Pekin to Anthony Wesley and Peggy Jean (Woolf) York, she married Michael David Petrone on April 21, 2007 in rural Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Anthony “Tony” Petrone of East Peoria; one daughter, Nicole (Robert) Thompson of East Peoria; eight grandchildren, A.J. Petrone, Tyler Petrone, Damien Mason, Parker Thompson, Mackenzie Thompson, Casey Thompson, Abby Petrone and Aubree Petrone and four brothers, Anthony “Tony” (Tracie) York, Jr. of Delavan, Mark (Tina) York of Granite City, Steven York and Jonathan York, both of Pekin.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Julie last worked for South Side Mission in Peoria, where she was store manager for 8 years. She previously had worked as the director of King’s Kids at North Parkway Assembly of God in Pekin for 9 years and also for a short time at Child Care Connections and Crittenton Center, both in Peoria. Julie started working at the age of 17 for WCIC 91.5 FM in Pekin as a radio personality.
Julie was passionate about her faith, always joyful and a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God in East Peoria.
A memorial visitation celebrating her life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God in East Peoria, where scripture and a brief message will be shared at 3:30 p.m. Pastor Paul Hinzman will officiate. Cremation has been accorded. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
