Judy was born June 14, 1936 in Pekin, IL to Byron and Ruth (Weeks) Phillippe. She married Alvin Moushon in 1955 in East Peoria; out of this marriage they had two daughters. She later married Roy “Jack” Finney in 1961 in Peoria; out of this marriage they had four sons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Tom Finney and four brothers.
Surviving are two daughters, Valerie (Jim) Kennedy of East Peoria and Karen (Clayton) Bieber of Morton; three sons, John (Faye) Finney of Peoria Heights, Randy (Becky) Finney of Peoria and Eddie (Jamie) Finney of Peoria Heights; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara McCollum of North Carolina and one brother, David Phillippe of Georgia.
Judy was a 1954 graduate of Pekin Community High School where she was a member of the singing group, Melody Maids, She also enjoyed singing and playing the organ and piano all her life. After graduating, she attended Browns Business College in Peoria.
As a young woman she worked as a secretary for LeTourneau-Westinghouse Co. in Peoria for several years and also in other secretarial positions in several other businesses in the Peoria area. She was a homemaker for many years and later in life worked in home healthcare, helping many people in their homes and in nursing homes.
She was a member of Victorious Life Evangelical Bible Church in East Peoria, Illinois and began attending Bible classes taught by Mrs. Betty Jean Nutter in 1978. Through Mrs. Nutter’s Bible lessons, she found the victory in Jesus Christ and her life changed for the glory of God. Her testimony was, “Hallelujah for the Cross, it is the Power of God!” With Christ in her, her hope of glory, she was still a testimony in her many afflictions to the very end. She loved Jesus Christ with all her heart and she loved sharing the victory she found in Christ with others as she faithfully supported Mrs. Nutter’s, Worldwide Victorious Life Bible Teaching Ministry, www.wvlbtm.org.
She looked forward with great anticipation to the day she would see her Precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ face to face and to also be reunited with her Beloved Bible Teacher Mrs. Nutter.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor James Schoonover will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Victorious Life Evangelical Bible Church Cemetery in East Peoria.
