Born September 14, 1922 in Pekin Judy was a devoted daughter to Charles and Grace (Bonino) Carlier, Jr. She married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Eldert, Jr. on June 10, 1944 in Pekin. He died September 10, 2005 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Judy was a treasured mother to one son, Steven Thomas (and daughter-in-law, Lisa) Eldert of Wildwood, Missouri; beloved grandmother to Sarah Eldert (Joseph) Brown of Columbia, Missouri and Matthew Thomas Eldert of Seattle, Washington; cherished great-grandmother to Julia and Roselyn Brown.
Judy retired from Pekin Community High School District 303 in 1987 after 24 years of service in the cafeteria. She previously had worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 10 years and inventory control.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin and the Council of Catholic Women. She also was a member of Pekin Women of the Moose Chapter 673 and the Red Hat Society in Pekin.
Family and friends meant the world to Judy. She loved getting together with her friends at McDonalds. Judy loved entertaining and no one ever left her home hungry. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Her funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where the recitation of the Rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School, 300 South 6th Street, Pekin, IL 61554 or to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry in care of her church, 303 South 7th Street, Pekin, IL 61554.
