He was born Sep. 3, 1929 in Pekin to John H. and Letha (Baker) Eggena. He married Rosemary Kuecks on Aug. 23, 1953 in Pekin. She passed away on Nov. 29, 2003 in Pekin. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Doris Bauer.
Survivors include two daughters: Lori Svendsen of Pekin, Rebecca (John) Worlow of Marquette Heights, one son, David (Gina Smith) Eggena of Pekin, two grandchildren: Johnnie Waremburg of Pekin, Brandi Waremburg of Manito, and three great-grandchildren: Brycen, Johnnie, and Alyssa.
John was a United States Army veteran serving in the Korean War.
He worked in Photocopy at Caterpillar, Inc. for 35 years retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the Chillicothe Sportsmen Club, the Peoria Trap and Skeet Club, and the NRA. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday May 3, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Woodrow Cemetery in South Pekin with Military Honors.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
