Born October 20, 1934 in Lacon to Andrew E. and M. Irene (Lewis) Baldwin, he married Renate Ollmann on November 8, 1959 in Toluca. She died April 6, 2012 in Springfield, Missouri. He also was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and one sister.
Surviving are one son, Ron Baldwin of Pekin; one daughter, Debbie (Kevin) Bresnahan of Pekin; two granddaughters, Lauren Bresnahan and Rachel Bresnahan, both of Pekin; and one sister, Emma McIntyre of Princeville.
Joe was a member of St. John’s (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley.
He ran Baldwin’s Barber Shop in Lacon since 1955. He then worked as an inspector for Caterpillar, Inc. in Mossville for 24 years, retiring in 1996. He also had worked as a barber in Branson, Missouri for four years.
Joe enjoyed woodworking and making furniture. He enjoyed doing word searches and fishing. He was a former member of the Mohammed Temple, Shrine and was involved with singing as tenor with many churches.
His funeral will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2018 at St. John’s (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley. Pastor Chris Sansom and DCE William Krueger will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 6:15 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Lacon Cemetery in Lacon. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Lacon American Legion. Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is in charge of arrangements.
