Born September 22, 1940 in Pekin to Edward and Irene (Roman) Andrews, he married Elizabeth Ann Joyner on September 22, 1985 in Alexandria. She died May 17, 2020 in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gary Andrews and one sister, Molly Stout.
Surviving are two daughters, Stephanie (Bob) Johnson and Angie (Pat) Flannigan, both of Pekin; five grandchildren, Derek Rademaker, Bradley Johnson, both of Pekin, Ryan Flannigan of Nashville, Tennessee, Jake (Taylor) Flannigan of San Francisco, California and Molly Flannigan of Pekin and one
great-granddaughter, Mavis Rademaker.
He was a 1958 graduate of Pekin Community High School, where he played baseball and then attended the University of Illinois.
Jeff was a retired member of Carpenter’s Local 237 in East Peoria. He retired with 37 years of service at the Powerton Generating Station, where he last worked as superintendent of Brand Energy Services.
Jeff was proud of his grandkids and never missed their sporting events or activities. He was a huge St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan and rarely missed a game on the radio or television. Jeff had a great memory and always knew his baseball stats. He also was a fan of the Fighting Illini.
He used to hunt and fish and was a member of the Peoria Sportsman’s Club. Jeff found enjoyment watching the birds and his numerous feeders from his front porch. He also had the gift for storytelling.
His visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where a memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. Pastor Eric N. Swanson will officiate. Cremation has been accorded.
