MORTON ~ James Murray Goodin, Sr., 88, of Morton, passed away at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Fondulac Healthcare & Rehab.
Born June 15, 1930 in Manito to Cecil W. and Freda (Endicott) Goodin, he married Phyllis J. Burgett. He later married Barbara Wood. He then married Laura May. He was preceded in death by his wives; two infant brothers, one infant sister, and two children (Cecil Goodin and Jeanne Gill).
Surviving are his significant other, Rachel Hosick; two sons, James (Lydia) Goodin, Jr., Steven (Pat) Goodin, two daughters, Susan (Tom) Hoppe and Kathy Thomas; two step-sons, Brian (Kay) Wood, Kevin (Joanne) Wood; one step-daughter, Heidi (Mike) Eddy; eleven grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
James was a member of Richwoods Christian Church in East Peoria.
During his career, James worked as a semi-truck driver, working out of Teamster’s Local #627. He drove for a number of companies, over the years including Ameren Cilco at the Edwards Plant at Bartonville. He had also worked as an auctioneer, a real estate agent and an estate property appraiser for 30 years.
His funeral will be at 10:30a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Kenneth Stewart will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Spring Lake Cemetery.
