Born April 20, 1928 in Pekin to Joseph Allen and Luella (VonBoeckman) Breaden, he married Dollie Beatrice Stubblefield on November 3, 1961 in Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his wife on October 18, 2008; and 1 sister, Helen Wright.
Surviving are 1 son, Joseph Allen (Denise Bell) Breaden of Pekin; 1 step-daughter, Mary Gilbert (Charlie) Layne of Pekin; 2 grandchildren, Christopher (Lena Arthur) Gilbert of Chicago and Cori Gilbert of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and 3 sisters, Mary Bright of Pekin, Betty (Richard) Shelton of Arizona, and Shirley (Henry) Tassart of Pekin.
Jim worked for CILCO for 35 years, retiring from Duck Creek Station as a control room operator/engineer in 1990. Formerly, he had worked for Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed aboard the USS Chipola and the USS President Jackson.
He was a member of Congregational United Church of Christ in Pekin since 1976 and was a 40 year member of Empire Masonic Lodge #126, A.F. & A.M. in Pekin. He was a former member of Pekin Moose Family Center #916.
Jim enjoyed playing bingo, woodworking, fishing, and watching professional wrestling.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2011 at Congregational United Church of Christ in Pekin, where visitation will be one hour before the funeral. The Rev. Jan Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
