He was born September 24, 1956 in rural Pana to Robert and Betty (Britton) Reed.
Surviving are his mother; three brothers, Randy Reed, David (Kim) Reed and Alan Reed; one sister, Becky May; seven nieces, Rhonda Flaherty, Charissa Flaherty, Laura Irby, Shauna Cooper, Trisha, Dana and Natalie; five nephews, Jason, Aaron, Jeremey, Brandon and Randy and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; two sisters, Kathy Flaherty and Diana Reed; one brother-in-law, David “Ike” Flaherty; one great-nephew, Seth and one great-niece, Cheyenne.
Jack attended the Illinois School for the Deaf graduating in 1972. He was a member of the Pekin Moose Family Center #916.
Affectionately known as “Uncle Maybe Not” for his usual catch phrase. He was a handyman and loved to tinker and fix things. He enjoyed scratch off lottery tickets and playing pranks with his plastic spiders. He will be remembered as a jokester, a know it all and for his stubborn nature.
He will be missed by his family and all the friends he had made at the UAW Senior Living Center in Pekin.
Jack had attended First Baptist Church in Pekin.
There will be a gathering celebrating Jack’s life from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1869 in Pekin. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory.
