PEKIN ~ Hilda Hill, 95, of 1520 El Camino Drive, passed away at 9:55 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2006 at Pekin Manor. She was formerly of 1306 State Street in Pekin.Born August 2, 1911 in Rottehausen, Germany to William Henry and Mary (Pettek) Skreber, she married Fred "Boots" Hill on April 4, 1942 in Hannibal, Missouri. He died January 13, 1976 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, William H. Skreber and Albert Skreber. Surviving are one step-daughter, Ruby Bodtke of Dunlap; three step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren. She had worked for the American Distilling Company in Pekin for many years as a table lady. Hilda was involved in the founding of the Miller Center in Pekin, where she remained active for many years, particularly as a member of the Miller Melodies. She enjoyed being outdoors, walking or fishing. She was a member of First Christian Church in Pekin. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2006 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before. The Rev. Steve Bridwell will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Memorial contributions may be made to her church, 1201 Chestnut Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554.
