Henry Joe Joseph Vicary

Henry Joseph Vicary, “Joe” 78, of Peoria, Illinois passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015. He was born March 15, 1937 in Kickapoo Township, IL to Richard and Dorothy (Layton) Vicary. He married Darlene Asbell March 5, 1965.

Surviving is his wife of fifty years, Darlene Eva Vicary; his son Henry (Jill) Vicary of Morton, IL; and two grandchildren, Connor and Olivia Vicary. Also surviving are three sisters: Marty Anne Rentsch of East Peoria, IL, Mary (Roger) Stone of Peoria, IL, and Marilyn Grimshaw of Edwards, IL; three brothers: Richard (Hazel) Vicary of Peoria, IL, Don (Rita) Vicary of Creve Coeur, IL, and Denny (Karen) Vicary of Hanna City, IL and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Pat Smith and Veronica Munge and their children. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.

Henry worked for Caterpillar and retired after thirty-four years of proud service. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Peoria Aerie #265, Caterpillar Retirees Club, and the First Presbyterian Church of Pottstown.

Henry loved to spend time with his family and his friends. He coached Little League baseball with his son for many years at the Kellar West and Richwoods baseball programs. Henry was an avid bowler, participating in many Peoria area competitive leagues, as well as many United States Bowling Congress Championship tournaments throughout the U.S. Henry also had a passion for baseball. He played in the Kickapoo Valley Baseball League and on softball teams at Alpha Park. He loved the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox. Most of all, he loved his family. He was a terrific dad and husband. Henry worked his entire life in order to provide better opportunities for his loved ones. Everyone will miss him.
