Helen Louise Waddell

Born February 4, 1932 in Peoria to Walter E. and Wilma (Block) Skaggs, she married James “Jim” F. Waddell on October 28, 1972 in Florida. He survives.

Also surviving are five daughters, Vicki (John) Schmidgall of Morton, Gail “Stormy” (Tracy) Van Alstine of Dade City, Florida, Scotti Nieukirk of Washington, Kim (Rob) Folck of East Peoria and Traci (Jeff) Abernathy of Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Wilma “Lorraine” Pettit; three brothers, Walter “Jim” Skaggs, Everett Skaggs and Thomas “Tom” Skaggs and her son-in-law, Randy Nieukirk.

Helen worked as a secretary at WABCO in Peoria until her retirement. She also worked with her husband at his ag-flying business, Waddell Aerial Applicators in Manito.

She enjoyed traveling, snowmobiling in Wisconsin, fishing, dancing, bowling and taking care of her family.

She was a member of Charis Life Fellowship in Groveland.

Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Bob Martin will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Spring Lake Cemetery in rural Manito.
