Helen “Arlene” Maloney, 92, of Pekin, passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Autumn Accolade Assisted Living in Green Valley, Illinois. She was born on April 5, 1919 in Canton, IL to John L.C. and Isabelle T. (Baxter) Walker. She married James William “Bill” Maloney on August 2, 1941 in Pekin. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2007 in Pekin. Her parents, three brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her two children, Sandra K. (David) Bills of Port Byron, IL. and Greg W. (Keli) Maloney of Pekin. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Matthew (Carrie) Bills, Luke (Jodi) Bills, Kelle (Chris) Tappendorf, Kayla and Kensi Maloney; three great-grandchildren, Nathan Bills, Ryan Bills and Jacob Tappendorf and one sister, Opal A. Lane of Champlin, MN.
Arlene worked as a secretary for many years at Camp Ellis and then as a Bookkeeper at International Harvester, before leaving to raise her family. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin, the Pekin Moose Lodge No. 916, the Eagles Lodge No. 1869, the Birthday Club and she bowled in several area women’s league.
A service will be Friday, May 20, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service at Woolsey Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Ford will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
