Gus H. Knieriem, 67, of Marquette Heights, Illinois, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. He was born on August 11, 1946 in Pekin, Illinois. He was the son of Richard and Blanche (Wallbaum) Knieriem.
He is survived by one brother, Dave (Bonnie) Knieriem of Mason City, Illinois; a nephew, Karl Knieriem of Hayward, CA; a niece, Krista Knieriem of Manassas, VA; a step-nephew, Anthony Starr of Mason City, Illinois; and a step-nephew, Kent Starr of Curran, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one nephew, John Richard Knieriem.
Gus graduated from Tremont High School in 1964. He worked as a stock room clerk at Komatsu America, Inc. for over 30 years and retired in December of 2002. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Pekin and its Fellowship Club. He also taught Bible Classes at the church. His church association and faith was very strong.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 19, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin, Illinois. The Rev. Daniel J. Bishop will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
