Born August 22, 1931 in Pekin to Gerald W. and Mabel Louise (Kief) Hall, Sr., he married Patricia Ann Yocum on June 21, 1953 in Dallas City. She died January 27, 2002 in Pekin. Also preceding him in death are his parents and one sister, Verna Richard.
Surviving are three daughters, Terry L. (Keith) Gleason of Pekin, Sharon D. (Gregory) Ives of Hanna City, Mary B. (Tony) Mantovani of Pekin; four grandchildren, Shane A. (Kim) Beeney of Pekin, Rachel L. (Patrick) Wooden of East Peoria, Ingrid A. (Jake) Beyhl of Peoria, Nathaniel I.W. (Jessica Urish) Thomas of Davenport, IA; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ray (Karen) Hall and John “Jack” (Pam) Hall, both of Pekin and one sister Mary Katherine Dupent of Pekin.
Bill had proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1951 until 1955, during the Korean War. He had also been stationed at Biloxi, MS, Lake Charles, LA and Tampa, FL.
He had been a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin where he had been active with several groups, including the Couples Club and Clowns for Christ for a number of years.
Bill had worked for Standard Oil which then became Cropmate in North Pekin for 17 years, retiring in 1993. He had also worked as an operating engineer with International Union of Operating Engineers Local 649 in Bartonville for about 20 years. He also owned and operated Hall Construction for many years.
He was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan and also enjoyed bowling and fishing, particularly going on annual fishing trips to Wisconsin. His greatest enjoyment was his family and attending any and all of his grandchildren’s activities.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin. The Rev. Daniel Bishop will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
