Gerald Edward Martis

Born March 15, 1942 in Peoria, he was the son of Joseph and Ella Mae (Wagner) Martis. His parents preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by one son, Shawn Patrick Martis; one sister, Shirley Gordon and one brother, Joe Martis.

He is survived by his loving wife, Verline of Sebring; two sons, Paul A. (Jackie) Martis of Holly Springs, North Carolina and Gerald Vern (Shelley) Martis of Pekin; one daughter, Laura (Michael) Noren of Metamora; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Christopher (Christie) Martis of Pekin and one sister, Peggy Carter of Michigan.

Gerald worked as a truck driver in the construction industry, attended Tanglewood Community Church, and had been a resident of Sebring since 2017. Gerald was a man of amazing faith. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Club. He loved motorcycles, sports, traveling, golfing in his later years, painting and loved to draw.

His memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor David Carter will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour before the service.
