Born August 19, 1916 in Malone Township, Tazewell County to Leslie and Bertha (Worstall) Boyer, she married John H. Ruth on March 2, 1938 in Cedar Rapids, IA. He died November 6, 1997 in Hopedale. She also was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and one brother.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra K. (Darwin) Klingenberg of Hot Springs Village, AR and Marlene M. Youle of Pekin; one son, Vernon L. Ruth of Green Valley; six grandchildren, Marcia Albert of Normal, Rodney (Lori) Klingenberg of Bloomington, Gayle (Dave) Supriano of Pekin, Lisa (Brent) Lacey of San Diego, CA, Leigh Ann (Bill) Helensmith of Gravois Mills, MO and Michael (Laurie) Klingenberg of Temple, GA and six great-grandchildren.
Florence was a farmer’s wife and a homemaker her entire life. She will be fondly remembered as a wonderful mother who was a great cook.
She and her husband enjoyed wintering in Mission, TX for 18 years.
She was of the Christian faith.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Michael Shirey will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery.
Florence was an animal lover; therefore the family requests memorial contributions be made to Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 100 Taps Lane, Pekin, IL 61554 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
