Eugene Robert Rigdon

Born September 20, 1934 in Pinckneyville to Clarence and Mabel (Miller) Rigdon, he married Nancy Rae Logan on February 16, 1957 in Pinckneyville. She died February 25, 2020 in Pekin. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Paul Rigdon on April 24, 2010; one brother, Loren Rigdon and one sister, Ruby Schwartz.

Surviving are one daughter, Gina (Sam) Moses of Pekin; three sons, Mike (Kathy) Rigdon and Mark Rigdon, both of Pekin and Tod (Cathy) Rigdon of Spring Lake; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.

Gene had worked at Caterpillar, Inc. in Mapleton for 32 years before retiring in 1986.

He enjoyed fishing, playing golf and working on cars and tractors. He loved to work in his garden and yard and spend time on his farm in southern Illinois.

Gene was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin.

A family graveside service will be Friday, June 25, 2021 at Woodrow Cemetery in rural Pekin. Pastor David Auxier will officiate.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Liberty Baptist Church, 2105 Sheridan Road, Pekin, Illinois 61554.
