PEKIN ~ Edith M. Neal, 88, formerly of Pekin, Illinois, passed away on September 29, 2024, at Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke, Illinois. She is now in Heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ, but she will be dearly missed, as she was loved by many.
Edie was born on November 24, 1935, in Pekin, to Jeff and Loretta (DeSanctis) Owens. She married Raymond A. Neal on March 4, 1967. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Loretta Owens; two brothers, James Owens and Ronald Owens; three sisters, Velma Van Meltebeck, Betty Louise Rhoades, and Shirley Wolfe; and a step-son, Robert Neal.
She is survived by her son, Steve (Chris) Lutke, of Palm Springs, California; daughter, Kathy Park, of Morton, Illinois; son, Brian Lutke, of Blountville, Tennessee; step-daughter, Linda Thoreson, and five grandchildren.
Edie retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company after many years of service working in the Patent Department as a legal secretary. She enjoyed gatherings with her family and friends, music, games, playing the accordion, and dancing.
Her memorial visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. A memorial service officiated by Kirk Schoenbein will be held immediately following the visitation. Private inurnment will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
