Dorothy Gean Hurt

Born July 24, 1937 in Groveland to William and Mary (Modendricker) Meyer, she married William “Bill” Hurt on December 25, 1954 in South Pekin. He died January 10, 2012 in Pekin.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are her four children, Sharon Hanson of Michigan, Karen (Jim) McKean and Shannon (Vern) Lewis, both of Pekin, and William (Janet) Hurt of Morton; eight grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

A homemaker, Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family, reading mystery novels, gardening, playing cards, and going to thrift stores.

She was a member of the South Pekin Congregational Church.

Her graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on April 15, 2025 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Pastor Steven M. Rowell will officiate. There will be no visitation. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
