Born April 17, 1939 in Graves County, Kentucky to George William and Nola Mae (Turner) Reber, he married Nancy E. Stever on September 22, 1967 in East Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Keith (Shawn) Reber of Washington, Brent (Michelle) Reber of Hopedale and Damian (Amy) Reber of East Peoria; nine grandchildren, Kassie (Kody) Hartnett, Marissa, Mark, Nicholas, Noah and Brenden Reber, Drew, Timmy and J.D. Wood; two great-grandsons, Braden and Colton; one brother, Larry (Charlotte) Reber, Eatonton, GA and one sister, Delene Dingus of Marquette Heights.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Freida Staley.
Donald served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965.
He had worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 33 years as a Research Mechanic at the Peoria Proving Grounds, retiring in 1996.
Don’s hobbies included woodworking, gardening and oil painting.
He was a current member of Creve Coeur Southern Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He previously was a member and deacon of Elm Ridge Baptist Church in East Peoria.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Creve Coeur Southern Baptist Church. Pastor Eric Dupree and Pastor Keith Thibo will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday morning at the church. Inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2018 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Military rites will be provided by the United States Army and the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
