Born April 9, 1936 in Bloomington to Donald James and Evelyn (Grady) Maloney, Sr., he married Barbara Happach on June 29, 1963 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Donald E. (Shauna) Maloney of Germantown Hills and Thomas (Sandra) Maloney of Marquette Heights; one daughter-in-law, Jessica Maloney of Morton; five grandchildren, Cori (Darin) James of Metamora, Brandi Corley of East Peoria, Amanda Corley of Marquette Heights, Dawn Corley of Peoria and Nate Maloney of Pekin; eight great-grandchildren, Damion, Dominick, Chance, Malakai, Lakaysha, Khalea, Samirah and RaeKwan and one brother, Patrick (Debbie) Maloney of Germantown Hills.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Timothy Maloney.
Don was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the 101st Airborne Division.
He retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in 1994 after 31 years. He was a member of the UAW Local 974. He was also member of the Spring Bay American Legion Post 1115.
In his free time he enjoyed fishing and looked forward to family cookouts and vacations. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
A gathering celebrating Don’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
