Born October 15, 1957 in Frankfort, Germany to David Clayton and Donna Lee (Vanderkloot) Westphal, he married Lora A. (Farris) Pollman on September 18, 1993 in Peoria.
Surviving are his mother, Donna Westphal of Chicago; his father and stepmother, David and Jill Westphal of Estero, Florida; one son, Dylan Westphal of Mapleton; one brother, Douglas Westphal of Homer, Alaska and two sisters, Vicky Marriner of Woodstock and Kristen Westphal of Chicago.
David served in the United States Navy from 1979 to 1983.
He last worked for Oculus through Premier Retail. He previously had worked for J.B. Hunt Transportation. After his Navy service, he returned to the Peoria area working at Peoria area automobile dealerships, first as a sales manager at University Ford, his father’s company and then at Sam Leman and Fort’s Toyota as a car salesman.
David had an interest in computers and electronics and loved fishing. He also was fond of dogs and had a big heart for others. He was a fan of Chicago sports, including the Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks and Bulls.
He loved his parents and son dearly.
A private service will be held in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, with the United States Navy and Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County providing military rites. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
