Born October 8, 1951 in Pekin to Marceau and Evelyn Opal (Boyer) Duez, he married Candice Kaufmann on November 18, 1972 in Morton. He later married Debra Andrews on February 14, 2002 at Indianola Heights, Iowa.
Surviving are one daughter, Tracy (Dave) Lucas of Washington; one son, Captain Todd (Elizabeth) Duez serving with the United States Navy on Oahu, Hawaii; three stepdaughters, Mackenzie (Joe) Harvey, Tamarind (John) Diers and Cassidy (Jesse) Marcum, all of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lucas, Haidyn Duez, Sidney Duez, Beckham Duez, Carson Harvey, Sharlee Diers, Liberty Marcum and Lillian Marcum and two brothers, Robert (Carol) Duez of Naples, Florida and August Duez of Morton.
His parents preceded him in death.
Dave went through the millwright apprenticeship program at Caterpillar, Inc., where he worked for many years at Mossville. He later lived and worked in the Des Moines, Iowa area.
Dave had a huge presence and was a very charismatic individual. He was a former coach of JFL Football in Pekin, a past supporter of the Pekin Quarterback Club and was a former member of the Pekin Community High School District 303 Board of Education. He loved to vacation at Daytona Beach, Florida and was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears.
He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Washington. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
