Born October 2, 1973 in Pekin to Gerald Edward and Mary Ellen (Barner) Graber, he married Lindsey Sue Ault on August 16, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are his parents, Jerry and Mary Graber of Pekin; one son, Mason Edward Graber of Pekin; two sisters, Laurie Graber of Pekin and Mary Beth (John) Waldman of Pekin; one niece, Emily (Ross) Jefford of East Peoria; his mother-in-law, Lynn Ann Ault of Spring Lake; two sisters-in-law, Lisa (Butch) Strube of Colorado and Lori (John Nimmo) Ault of Bartonville and two brothers-in-law, Larry Ault of East Peoria and Jon-Michael Ault of Spring Lake.
Dan was a Patrolman with Pekin Police Department from December 27, 1999, last working on May 17, 2023. He always worked third shift and took great pride in protecting his district and working alongside Pekin’s finest. He was a member of the Pekin Police Officers Association and was a former member of the Pekin Police Auxiliary.
He was an avid Star Wars collector and enjoyed duck hunting. Dan was known as a jokester and for his one liners, especially quoting movie lines.
He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Dr. Michael McLeod will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where a law enforcement walk through will be held at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin. Honors will be accorded by the Pekin Police Honor Guard Unit.
