Born August 7, 1934 in Pekin to Rudolph J. and Mabel (Lawson) Schott, he married the love of his life, Shirley A. Maurer on October 29, 1955 in Palmyra, Missouri. She survives.
Also surviving are his two children, Diana J. Lee and Dale E. (Susan) Schott, Jr., both of Pekin; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one sister, Sharon (Ron) Reid of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one sister.
Dale worked for Keystone Steel & Wire Co., serving on several I.S.W.A. committees. He retired in 1997 after 42 years.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin, where he had been active as a Trustee and past President of The Brotherhood. He had also founded and was President of Clowns for Christ.
Dale had served as past President and Treasurer of Central Groveland Fire Protection District and was past Master of Pekin Lodge #29, past Monarch of Irin Grotto and past President of Illinois Grotto Association, of which he is no longer affiliated.
He was a boxer and participated in the Golden Gloves. He was also an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his family.
There will be no services or visitation. Burial will be private. Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is in charge of arrangements.
