Dale Gene Montgomery

Born February 24, 1940 in Pekin to Marlowe Julius and Nelda (Stout) Montgomery, he married Barbara J. Kettering on February 24, 1962. He later married Margaret A. Crosier on September 5, 1981.

Surviving are one daughter, Kim Stahl of Kingston Mines; five grandchildren, Thad (Connie) Justice of Pekin, Ashlie Ohlman of Glasford, Jerry (Amy) Stahl of Pekin, Josh Stahl of Glasford and Jake Stahl of Peoria; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Montgomery of Pekin; a sister-in-law, Roberta Montgomery of Pekin; two nieces, Kathy Freres of Peoria Heights and Barbara Mullenix of Pekin and three nephews, Randy (Nancy) Montgomery, Rick (Joyce) Montgomery and Rex (Debbie) Montgomery. He also leaves a step-daughter, Carolyn Surrell and her family who were close to him for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Taunya Denise Schrieber on July 6, 2008; one brother, Marlowe Dean Montgomery; one half-brother, Robert Montgomery and a nephew, Dick Montgomery.

He was a graduate of Pekin Community High School.

Dale worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 31 years, retiring in 1993. He also had worked at several car dealerships in the area doing body work and painting.

He was an accomplished musician and played in a band for a number of years. He also raced motorcycles in his younger days.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Dan Pugh will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
