Charles "Chuck" L McGill

Born January 24, 1926 in White County to John Robert and Daisy A. (Sutton) McGill, he married Betty Louise Tangman on August 29, 1947 in Pekin. She died July 16, 2010 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carl McGill, Paul McGill, and Orville McGill; and two sisters, Lucy Leslie and Joyce Goforth.

Surviving are three daughters, Dora (Gale) Munter and Sally (Don) Johnson, both of Pekin, and Wendy (Don Boyd) McGill of East Peoria; one son, Michael McGill; four grandsons, Dr. Robert "Bob" (Stephanie) Johnson, Kris (Shelly) Munter, and Dr. Brendon (Lisa) Johnson, all of Pekin, and Dylan Boyd of East Peoria; and five great-grandchildren, Bradley Johnson, Ethan Munter, Aiden Munter, Elliott Munter, Derek Rademaker.

Chuck worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 35 years, retiring June 1, 1980 as a maintenance welder.

He was a member of the UAW Retirees Local #974 and a life member of the Chautauqua Sportsman’s Club. He was a former member of the Pekin Moose Family Center #916 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1869 in Pekin.

His visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Private burial will be at Walker’s Grove Cemetery in Easton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Pekin, 1101 Veerman Street, Pekin, IL 61554.
