PEKIN ~ Charles “Chuck” Eugene Carr, 93, of Pekin, left the loving arms of his family and walked into eternal paradise with Jesus at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2020, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born May 8, 1926 in Niantic, Illinois to Charles A. and Mary Pearl (Brannock) Carr, he married Mildred Ann Robb in 1953. She preceded him in death in 1993. He also was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Doris Brackett and Lucille Guy, and one brother, Carl Carr.
Surviving are one son, Greg (Dyann) Carr of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Barbara Carr of Pekin, three grandsons, Grant Carr, Luke Carr and Adam Carr, and his best friend and companion, Dottie Cary of East Peoria.
Chuck was a World War II veteran of the United States Army. After landing as an infantry soldier under enemy fire in the Philippines in 1944, Chuck moved on under promotion to serve gallantly in the offices of General Douglas MacArthur in Japan.
After the war, Chuck worked in a successful career as a truck salesman with International Harvester Company for 30-years, then as a car & truck salesman with Velde Ford in Pekin until his retirement.
Chucks’ hobbies included traveling, boating, biking, fishing and camping. He remained involved in various activities with war veterans. Chuck was selected and participated with the Honor Flight Network in a memorial trip to Washington, DC several years ago.
Cremation will be accorded. A graveside service with burial of the cremated remains will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin at a later date.
