Cary L. Robinson

Born March 8, 1947 in Carbondale to Clarence and Berndine (Hutchison) Robinson, he married Cheryl Ann Warner on February 8, 1993 in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Jodi (Mark) Hasler of East Peoria, Chad Robinson of Pekin, Kelli (Matt) McDaniel of Havana, Todd Robinson of Bloomington and Cassie (Kyle) Seward of Pekin; eight grandchildren, Cole (Amanda) McDaniel, Kayla (Brett) Flinn, Alexis Robinson, Cody Stum, Dylan Murray, Shay Seward, Skyler Seward and Bentley Seward; four great-grandchildren, Jaiden Ramey, Hudsyn Stum, Cameron McDaniel and Brysen Flinn; one sister, Nona Carroll of Lakeland, Florida and his sister-in-law, Judy Dennis of Sterling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters, Stormy Robinson and Jordan Ramey; one great-grandson, Maverick; his brothers-in-law, Larry Dennis and Rick Carroll and a nephew, Sean Lambert.

A 1965 graduate of Green Valley High School, Cary attended Illinois State University and Purdue University.

He was a self-employed plumbing contractor, owning and operating Robinson Plumbing for 38 years, retiring in 2007. He was a retired member of Local 63, was a certified Cross Connections Inspector and had taught math and science for 4 years for Local 63. Cary previously was a partner in two different sporting goods stores in the area. He was listed in the Who’s Who of Executives & Professionals.

Cary was passionate about genealogy and the study of the Civil War. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, a life member of Pekin Moose Family Center 916 and a member of the P.G.A. Partners. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling to P.G.A. Tournaments, watching the History Channel and spending time with his grandkids. He was a huge sports fan and had coached Little League with the Union Mission and JFL Football. He also previously coached basketball at Pekin Christian and played men’s league softball and basketball.

He attended First United Methodist Church.

His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor James C. McClarey will officiate. Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
