Carol E. Cruikshank

Born August 11, 1950 in Pekin, she married Daniel Lee Cruikshank on February 3, 1973 in Pekin. He died April 6, 2021. Her parents and one brother, David Eugene Wagner, also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Amy (David) Boll of Pekin; one granddaughter, Maddie Boll of Mackinaw; and a close cousin, Janet (Kevin) VanDyke of Green Valley, and their two daughters, Kelsey (Reese) Park and Jacy (Ryan Vick) VanDyke. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Tiny.

A 1968 graduate of Pekin Community High School, Carol enjoyed assisting with her class reunions and attending monthly ladies luncheons.

She worked in the mailroom at Pekin Insurance for 11 years, retiring in 2008.

Carol collected Coca-Cola memorabilia and enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune.

She was a volunteer with the Pekin Park District figure skating program at the Memorial Arena.

She will be remembered for being out-going and opinionated. She adored the neighborhood kids. She also looked forward to the monthly cousin gatherings.

A memorial service celebrating both Carol and Dan will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Gary Washington will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 100 Taps Lane, Pekin, Illinois 61554.
