Born November 12, 1936 in Springfield, MO to Clifford DeHaven and Wilma Lucia (Killingsworth) Cox; he married Deloris Marie “Dee” Largent on November 16, 1957 in Indianapolis, IN. She preceded him in death on December 4, 2004 in Pekin. Also preceding in death was his sister Judy.
Surviving are his children, Kristina M. Deatherage (Howard Bernard) of Canton, IL and Craig Cox (former spouse, Karen Cox) of Herrin, IL; grandchildren, Kara Yntema, Nicolas Wagner, Mairy Deatherage, Kristi Dunn, Gage Wells, Addison Cox and Grady Cox; great grandchildren, Logan, Chloe, Taylor, Isabella, Eli, Aubrey and Aalivia; brother, Lawrence Cox and sisters, Jean (Dave) Armin and Jill Nuckolls.
Carl was a US Army veteran and spent his career in the transportation industry with roles from management to deliveryman. He was a member of the Peoria Transportation Club and enjoyed driving and being on the road for work or pleasure.
The kindness of Carl’s eyes and his warm smile enabled him to make friends anywhere. He was a kindhearted gentleman who loved and supported his family in all of their efforts and activities.
Carl loved playing golf and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He also enjoyed comedy and was a pretty funny guy in his own right- always being quick with a comeback or one-liner.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin where he served as an usher for many years.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin with Rev. Daniel Bishop officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Woodrow Cemetery in South Pekin.
Memorials are suggested to the Special Olympics which was close to Carl’s heart.
